adidas Originals Blue AW13 launch EVENT RECAP

We were fortunate enough to check out the launch of the adidas Originals Blue collection reimagined last week and not only were we fortunate to catch up with the brilliant crew there, we were also able to get an indepth look at the collection and experience The Throne – a live 3D projection mapped light installation by illustrator and animator Nicos Livesey.

The Blue collection itself is a plethora of trends picking on five main prints – zigzag, leopard, rain, camo and diamond. adidas Originals commissioned Nicos Livesey to rework them, applying to each his own unique animation for this one – off event.

We got a chance to create our own artwork with state of the art 3D projection mapping. Tracing the outlines of the Trefoil Throne installation, we were able to layer both animations and sounds – creating a one-off piece of living artwork. The result: a sensory adidas Originals Kingdom (Our Throne) completely unique to us, captured at the touch of a buzzer!

In celebration of this sensory experience brought to life through Nicos Livesey for adidas Originals, the AW13 Blue Collection gives us print clashes and intricate details in keeping with the Blue Collection we all know and love, such as taped seams and technical zips which still dominate, whilst classic basketball uniforms share the court with running apparel re-appropriated for inner-city life.
