In keeping with the brand’s signature dark aesthetic, Religion presents a contemporary menswear collection for Autumn/Winter 2013 that marries sharp tailoring with classic sportswear elements.
Reference to 90’s street styling is found in the MA1 influenced bomber jackets with similar aviator zip detailing found on jumpers in the collection. Heavy cotton joggers and the thick wool monochrome polo neck further serve this inspiration. Collection highlights include cable knit-print light sweatshirts with subtle design details seen in contrasting colour panels featured on the shirts and blazers and the return of degradé dip-dye on knitwear.
The colour palette is kept tight, with a focus on solid black, mid-greys, charcoal and navy; injections of brilliant white, warm reds and bright blue breaking through to lift the sinister tones. Layering continues to play a key role in constructing the brand’s DNA, though lines are cleaner for AW13 with a sharper, grown-up feel. This evolution can be seen in the smart dark berry wool overcoat.
True to the brand, leather remains a key element in the outwear range; this season’s stand-out a biker jacket in a ‘crinkled’ paper effect, a design feature that runs through to the new footwear collection.
Religion continues to expand its range of denim for A/W13, offering an array of colours, prints and washes to compliment the casual elements in the collection.
