theCool World: The Furry Face of Fashion

Jeremy Scott will always be known for his outrageous – and somewhat lunatic – designs, a signature trademark that has found him to be a favourite amongst fashionistas and celebrities alike.
I thought he was a little crazy when the one-legged trousers sprang onto the pages of my favourite magazines, but after witnessing his rise from the bizarre to the superb, I think it’s more than fair to say that the man is a genius.
Love him or loath him, Mr Scott is a force to be reckoned with, and whether you’re slating or shouting about him, he’s always a talking on point.
Enter his latest and greatest: Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals x Originals Teddy Bear sneakers.
I’m always up for a bit of kitsch – or even surrealty – but never did I even imagine that I’d see the day that designers would head to The Bear Factory for inspiration.
At first glance, these trainers are utterly insane.
Initially, you may ask, who would wear these? You cannot go out in the rain for fear of the fur getting wet, you cannot wear them when it’s too hot due to the fact that your feel will positively melt, and even if you open your blinds one morning and find that the weather meets the specific requirements for the said trainers…would you really want to risk it?
I gained the answer for this calamity from Adam, the voice behind Fashion In A Flash London*: a true hi-tops fanatic who will don anything suitably fabulous in the name of fashion. He explained to me that not only are these limited edition teddy-trainers an amazing investment (they’re already fetching twice the retail price on Ebay), but most importantly, they’re unique.
Its easy to get wrapped up in the current trends for the season and go all out for colour blocking, or spend a months rent on this seasons Miu Miu wedges that, come Autumn, will hit the back of your wardrobe in momentary despair.
It’s important to stick with what you love. For me, that will always be heels. I’m purely devoted to the effect that they can have on my extraordinarily large calves (I blame gymnastics) and, of course, for the beautifully aesthetical values too! Whether heels are ‘in’ or ‘out’, high or low, thin or chunky; I will remain faithful to my collection because they resonate deeply with me. I can remember how I felt when I tried each pair on in the shop, I recall the mental sacrifices I play in my mind to justify the amount of money disappearing from my bank account, and even though I know I have more than enough pairs of courts…It’s impossible to have too many.
This is the type of dangerous thinking that lands you with size 10 pink teddy bear trainers from Jeremy Scott. Praise the Lord that they don’t come in female sizes…I don’t think I’d have the heart to say no to a furry little face of size 6s!
