Merrimaking Animal Hoods . . . Seriously Merri

A true sucker for anything remotely animal like, Merrimaking Animal Hoods are definitely on our hottest COOLIST for 2011.
The brand which is the creative handy work of Meg and Harriet, from Brighton and Nottingham, has risen to become a very hot statement piece for all those that dare to be different. The arts-based, fashion company and unique and their work is definitely admirable. No two hoods are ever alike, with a selection of animal, lining and the opportunity to get bespoke designs fitted especially to your own personality, it is their authenticity which keeps customers coming back!
“Merrimaking has been an unexpected adventure; it started out as an experiment on a whim – using hoods as a currency to get into festivals and get by. Now it’s all we do, and we’ve 4 friends that have joined us. Our favourite commissions include a cat to match a pet, a llama and a gold deer… staggering!” – Meg & Harriet
Merrimaking which is a product of hardwork, diligence and resilience, after doing a great job at selling out fast at many festivals, their collection now includes sweatshirts with especially long sleeves (and I mean LONG sleeves) and are all on sale online and in pop-up shops across the UK, including Selfridges, London with Supermarket Sarah.
Now what I love about the brand is their ability to create community for people to get involved with the brand, great personalities and creative minds! So note for anyone who likes merrimaking – you can get your guerilla on and be in with a chance of winning your very own limited edition gorilla hood. Find an interesting spot to stick/ write/ paint www.merrimaking.co.uk, take a photo and submit it through the ‘win’ tab on the above website. Easy. And if yours is the best that month then a cheeky handmade gorilla hood made lovingly by the team will be on its way to you. Old winners have drawn on newspapers left on trains, left there mark in tents at Bestival and even had the website address projected across Nottingham castle! Dont take it too far though – Merrimaking hate a ‘hood’lum and vandals will not be winners!!
Keep it Merri, by checking these guys out on their official website at www.merrimaking.co.uk or follow them on Twitter to catch the latest updates on the brand twitter.com/merrimaking
